Gunpowder & Cabernet is a 100% women-owned brand built on two loves — Gunpowder & Cabernet (with a little extra emphasis on the cabernet). Founded in 2022 by Candace Affeldt, our mission is simple: create apparel with purpose and use it to give back.
From day one, we’ve stood by our tagline — Apparel With a Cause. Every shirt, hoodie, and hat we create helps fuel a bigger mission. We proudly donate to Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders, Veterans, No-Kill Shelters, Boerne ISD, local teams, breast cancer awareness, and community needs — from helping Boerne Little League on their World Series journey to supporting Hill Country flood victims.
Gunpowder & Cabernet designs every piece in-house, prints every item by hand, and ensures that each product is made with intention. We also produce apparel for our sister company, Free Roam Brewing Company, as well as other local businesses and individuals in the Hill Country, TX.
Before launching Gunpowder & Cabernet, Candace spent nearly 30 years in the corporate world after earning her degree in Computer Science — with career stops at Sprint Headquarters, DST Systems, Texas Christian University, and ultimately as Chief of Staff at Black Rifle Coffee Company HQ. She then co-founded Bison Union Coffee Company in Wyoming, owned a ranch with 190 head of bison, ran an apparel brand, and even a pottery business. In 2022, she sold her shares in all ventures to focus her energy on building Gunpowder & Cabernet from the ground up — free from partnerships, so every dollar generated could be directed toward meaningful causes.
While our roots run deep in community service, our very first passion was — and still is — helping dog rescues. Every cause we support reflects our belief that business should be about more than profit — it should be about people, animals, and the communities we love.
